About

With over 100 years of service ti the San Bernardino community, Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery has been recognized as Inland Valley’s Favorite Mortuary and San Bernardino County’s Favorite Mortuary for the third consecutive year. San Bernardino families have chose Mt. View Cemetery as a beautiful final resting place for generations.

Mt. View Mortuary, built on the cemetery grounds in 1994, provides the highest quality funeral and cremation services available. These sister locations are located near the 210 freeway—on the corner of North Waterman and East Highland avenues. Working together, the mortuary, crematory and cemetery offer compassionate care to people of all backgrounds and cultures.

A modern, caring California funeral home

Chapel at Mt. View Mortuary & CemeteryMt. View Mortuary & Cemetery has 1 of the larger chapels in the area, comfortably seating 300 guests. It has state-of-the-art audio/visual technology that allows you to show favorite photos, funny home videos or a multimedia memorial tribute—which we are happy to create for you. The chapel's advanced lighting system creates just the right ambiance day or night.

The funeral home also has 2 staterooms and a reception area, Hinze Hall, for catered gatherings before or after a funeral or memorial. It can also be used for overflow guests and we can livestream video of the service so they won't miss a thing.

Honoring your wishes and traditions

We love the cultural diversity of the Inland Empire. Our team conducts services for people of many ethnicities and faiths, including Asian, Latino, Sikh, Buddhist, Catholic, Christian and Hindu. Our bilingual team speaks Spanish and English.

At Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, we personalize each funeral service according to your traditions and wishes. We believe that each life is unique, and that each service should reflect individuality. What does that mean exactly? It means that whether you are seeking a cremation with a champagne toast, a traditional funeral service with a cemetery burial or a modern celebration of life complete with favorite foods, live music and a send-off to remember, we manage every detail to perfection.

From costumes to cupcakes, a passion for skiing to a love of sailing, we take the things that mattered to someone and combine them to create a singular, heartfelt celebration.

On-site crematory

Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery has a private on-site crematory, which means your loved one never leaves our care. What's more, the crematory has a witness room for those whose customs require it or families desire it.

Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures, and more and more people are choosing cremation over more traditional burial options, but most people aren’t familiar with all of their choices when it comes to cremation. You may choose a direct cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind; a funeral with the body present, followed by cremation; or a cremation followed by a cemetery service or a celebration of life.

If you wish, cremated remains can be interred at Mt. View Cemetery.

History

Mt. View Cemetery was established in 1907, making us 1 of the 1st cemeteries in San Bernardino. As the city grew, so did the demand for funeral services. In 1994, Mt. View Mortuary was built on the cemetery property, adding vital convenience and simplicity when planning final arrangements.

The Tower

When you enter Mt. View Cemetery, you see the Tower, a physical embodiment of our heritage. It was the original entrance to our property. In the very early days of the cemetery, funeral processions, led by horse and carriage, began at the Tower.

Hinze Hall

In 2008, the funeral home added a space for catered receptions and guest overflow for large services. Called Hinze Hall, the space is named for a previous owner, Bob Hinze.

History Tour

Mt. View Cemetery is the final resting place for many politicians, judges and other notable people from Southern California. Wanting to share our rich cemetery history, Mt. View partnered with the local historical society to host a guided tour each October. Descendants of notable people buried here join us to share their stories with guests on the historical tour.

We care about our community

Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery host 5 events each year. They are all open to the whole community and draw hundreds of people.

Each May, we celebrate Public Servants Week by cooking for area firefighters and police officers. The public is welcome to come show their thanks to our public servants during this event—and enjoy the carne asada. On Memorial Day, we partner with The American Legion to honor veterans. Boy Scouts and Young Marines place American flags on the graves of veterans at our cemetery. The mayor of San Bernardino speaks at this day of remembrance.

October marks our history tours. Anyone can come to take a 2-hour tram tour. The tram makes roughly 20 stops at the gravesite of San Bernardino notables, and the annual event raises money for the local historical society.

In November, we celebrate Día de los Muertos with traditional dress and makeup. Vendors are invited to sell art, jewelry and pottery.

In December, we hold a holiday candlelight service. A large screen displays the names and photos of the loved ones celebrated at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery during the year. Family and friends get Christmas ornaments on which to write special messages to their loved ones and then hang them on our Christmas tree.
